About me

As your local councillor I am here to represent you on Torfaen County Borough Council.  I am also here to help you with any problems you may have relating to the council and the services it provides.

Please use this site to find out more about what’s happening in our local area and my work as a Councillor.  Let me know how I can help and what you think about the issues that affect our local area.

Llanyrafon North is a small ward at the south eastern corner of Torfaen, but is home to County Hall, the  headquarters of the old Gwent County Council and now home to some offices of Torfaen and also home to Monmouthshire County Council.  Just to confuse everyone this ward is in the Monmouth constituency, but the Torfaen local authority area.

I was elected as a Welsh Liberal Democrat councillor in May 2008 when for the first time since Torfaen became a local authority the Labour party did not have an overall majority.

I am leader of the Liberal Democrat group on the Council.

You can find information anout these meetings on the Torfaen County Borough Council website.

  • I also serve as a Governor on two of our local schools:
Llanyrafon Primary School and Croesyceiliog School

    Outside the Council

I produce regular FOCUS newsletters to let residents know what is happening around the ward.  If you would like to help  in any way please get in touch.  We regularly need help with focus delivery, campaigns, letter writing, organising events and more.

  • Update
On 1 July 2010 I have took up my seat as the Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for South Wales East. I replaced Mike German when he was asked to sit in the House of Lords by Nick Clegg. This means I can cover Llanyrafon at two levels as well as the rest of the region in the Assembly which stretches from Merthyr in the north west down to Chepstow in the south east of the area. Please feel free to contact me on any issues which you think I may be able to help you with.

You can find out more about my work as Assembly Member here.
