The freezing conditions in recent weeks, with more to come, across the country are having a deep impact on households that are concerned about keeping warm.
As a result, Councillor German is this week urging constituents struggling to pay their energy bills not to turn off their heating but to call the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99 for free advice and assistance.
“After speaking to constituents, it has become clear that many people are unsure of what is on offer. For instance, all low-income and pensioner households are entitled to free loft and cavity insulation, which would hugely help keep the bills down. There are also services provided by local councils and energy companies that target some of the most deprived areas of the UK, carrying out house-to-house calls to offer help”.
“I urge people to call the Home Heat Helpline. The helpline advisors can give people who are worried about the cost of heating their homes help on making their home more energy efficient, as well as offering information on what reduced or ‘social’ tariffs are also on offer to them”.Leave a comment
