As part of a wide range of proposals aimed at reducing costs, the Council decided that they will no longer directly manage the community hall at Llanyrafon Social Centre.

It has been agreed that the Llanyrafon Community Association will manage the entire building with the community hall now known as ‘The Afon Suite’.

This will now be classed as an ‘independently managed centre’ and all repairs and maintenance of the fabric of the building will continue to be carried out by Torfaen’s Property Services.

Councillor Veronica German commented:

“This is good news for the many groups that use the centre. Two fo the options that were considered would have meant that many groups would not have been able to carry on using the hall for their activities. I’m sure there may be a few teething problems but there is definitely a will to make this succeed”.
